"Threshold" By Holly Wilmeth
"Threshold"
This image is of the base of a Sotol or Dasylirion plant. The base of a sotol stem can be eaten cooked like an artichoke leaf. This remnant, called the "quid," resembles a spoon and can be used as such. The archaeological sites where Sotol, also known as the "Desert Spoon", was eaten are full of quids discarded thousands of years ago.
